Very nice blog Steve.
I have been sending posts to the bloggers who say that we should obey the commands of Jesus, but then they do not practice what they preach!
But your blog has left me almost speechless (and also highly informed!).

The point being that Luke 12:33 is a real tester of faith and trust in Jesus. Who wants to do that!
What he actually meant was:-
His disciples/followers should not have more than the poorest (where they live) are able to have.
Doing the above soon teaches a thing or two about humility and love for our brother and sister.
But the purpose of obeying his commands can be easily missed. It is not so we can be made right with God by obedience alone or by good works. The purpose is to show us where we are sinning, so we can stop.
When we have understood this, we will no longer be fallen people, and the Kingdom of God will come to earth just like Jesus said.
